Why don't you just take a seat
So as with all good creative things in life- I'm starting over at a new blog. I'm simplifying things (I told myself to have more focus in my writing and photography, so this is a good reason to start fresh) and I'm ready to see where this new mode of thinking might take me. This one is still here for rants and such, but if you do want to see my photoblog- follow me to This is a Mind Gap. Ta-da!

The TV
tells me what to do.
And what bathroom cleaner I should buy.
Act now!
Buy Fast!
We'll throw in three free!
And I'm bound
to love my new life.
GM tells me happiness
is just within my reach.
With a 4-year lease and the right
handshake,
we can all be pseudo-celebrity.
Apple warns me that I'm missing
my loved ones
when I can't connect with them today.
The spokesman on channel 30
looks just like my dad
and promises to love me
the same way.
But I don't understand
why
when I dial the 1-800s
that all of the Pauls and Richards and Lisas
only want to know
Is this Mastercard or Visa?

Interstates, Speed Limits and Truck Stops, Oh my!

We are T minus 18 hours until we hit the road on path for Marfa, Texas. I've got two litter boxes set up for the cat, we're keeping the whole trip a secret from the dog, and we still need to pack all of our tie-dye shirts and arrowhead necklaces. So far, our trip is set to include the infamous Texas town, Marfa, The Davis Mountains, Carlsbad, and the long-awaiting Roswell, New Mexico. And when we say we're going on an old fashioned, road maps to the wall road trip, we mean it.
A few things I hope to do out in the wide open desert:
Find a genuine geode out on the side of the road.
Shake hands with a native american and buy some moccasins from him.
Visit more gas station museums than I ever could have imagined.
See a UFO of any type (I'll take what I can get!)
So stay tuned, America. We're heading into the heart of you (well, more like the left thigh) and we're don't know what to expect.

And it's day two of our yard sale. The skies aren't wet on us, we have all of our junk in bags and ready to go back out on the lawn, and I am already scamming on where to put our giant signs in the neighborhood. We did pretty well yesterday, and I have my lucky rabbits foot to help us get rid of these belongings today.
