Getting through German from Wayne Newton

Today I got real fucking lucky. Not only did I not spend my allotted amount of traveling money until the last minute of my trip (thanks German trains!), but I managed to experience Oktoberfest with vigor and real Americans.

With some dumb luck, I managed to meet two winos from America on the train to Munich this morning. When I have luck, boy does it rain. The weather was perfect today, and these ladies invited me to trail around with them so I wouldn't have to drink myself into a stupor alone.

So we walked to the tents, and we drank Spaten. Then we ate sausage. And we met Germans who had come to Oktoberfest for 50 years running. It was so fun to see 90-year-old GMILFS who could still keep up with the best of us. But I was with ladies among ladies, and we were going to bust this place.

So we walked around and ate dessert. Then I insisted on more beer. Paulaner, please, but there were no Hefeweisens. Okay fine, I did have my fair share, and met some of the nicest folks I have met in all of Germany. So we had more beer, then decided to peace out on the scene and see Munich before the sun went down and the creeps came out. These ladies didn't know the train system, but we were drunk enough to try.

So we made it to the Glockenspeil. Just in time. I ran out of the Swatch store just as the clock started to ring. We made it to English Gardens. We even made it to the trains station without being mugged.

All in all, a great day. Just one thing missing, and I know where to find him. The trouble is, British Airways is a bitch. aghhhhh
