Ware am I
Oh what a week. After job hunting and playing like adults all week, we took the afternoon off to visit El Chile and have a conversation with a few margaritas. I had a serious job interview today, and Jake had to wear shoes that required socks for a meeting with the director of the film he is working on. As a good luck gift, Jake sprung for one of Chris Ware's latest reads, The Acme Novelty Library. Chris Ware's graphic novels are usually nothing short of masterpieces, as he truly treats ink and paper as an art form, and transforms you into the characters you turn on the pages. I can't wait to dig into this one.
Things are starting to look up, as Jake and I are both slowly falling into a few inspiring creative projects, and hopefully have a few things to work on in the next few months. I've got a few leads for magazines I can write for, and have a few outlets for paychecks in the meantime.
Until then, time to finish a little gem I found in the criterion collection, Mr. Freedom. Ahead of its time for the 90s, it talks about the politics of selling patriotism, and how ugly we can look at the wrong end of the star spangled banner.

Stay off those drugs, kids.
